3 Tips to Overcome Imposter Syndrome as an Entrepreneur

One thing that surprised me when I began doing business coaching for female solopreneurs is how many of them struggle with Imposter Syndrome. Even the ones running 7-figure businesses!

We often find ourselves asking:

“Who am I to do this?”

“Who am I to teach this?”

“Who am I to create this?”

It always starts with that seed of doubt: “Who am I to…?”

We are secretly afraid they will find out we have no idea what we are doing.

And it’s rampant among solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.

You know what I think you might need? A way to fight through Imposter Syndrome.

I want to share some thoughts with you on this, since I think it’s a common issue for female business owners.

Here are 3 things I think you need to do:

Tip 1 to Beat Imposter Syndrome

This is going to sound harsh but here it is:

Face it. The only way out is through.

Oftentimes, we just have to do the dang thing even in the midst of second guessing our abilities or know-how.

Tip 2 to Beat Imposter Syndrome

Be successful.

The fact of the matter is this: Success kills Imposter Syndrome.

The only way I have been able to beat it is by seeing real, demonstrated success in the lives of my clients and their businesses. Those success stories proved to me that I DO have what it takes to grow and scale businesses – and no amount of mindset work did as much for me as success did.

Now, I don’t question myself anymore – even when I begin working with a really big client. My business frameworks work. I can prove it. I have demonstrated examples with happy clients. The Imposter Syndrome monster is wrong. It’s as simple as that.

Tip 3 to Beat Imposter Syndrome

Understand it.

When I coach women, I noticed something fascinating when it comes to Imposter Syndrome: We have a hard time believing that something that comes so easily to us and brings us SO much joy is actually worthwhile to others.

Our enjoyment of it is actually what causes us to question ourselves. It is what causes us to wonder if what we have is even valuable.

Isn’t that bizarre? But it’s true. Think about it for a minute. You love it. You have a passion for it. You enjoy working on it, learning about it, and doing it. That’s why they need you. To guide them. To help them. You have something they don’t. And that is the definition of what makes something valuable.

Warrior, if you love something and find it comes easy to you but not to others, you are more than capable and worthy of all the success in the world. Trust.
